Still Building for the Warfighter

Marine Corps veteran and additive manufacturing leader Jim Monroe found purpose downrange as a Combat Engineer and machine gunner, where a 3D printer in Iraq showed him how rapidly fielded parts could protect warfighters and change the mission. After leaving active service, expeditionary 3D printing brought Monroe back alongside Marines and soldiers, producing replacement parts during exercises and battle damage assessments while carrying forward the standards and responsibility learned in uniform. Today, his work serving the warfighter connects directly to what he valued in the Corps: mission, camaraderie, purpose, and making a tangible difference when people need it most.
